Combining almonds with Chinese barley in a warming soup is an awesome way to support the body. Chinese barley has been studied as a cancer preventative. Rinse barley well then add to a pot of boiling water.
Let simmer for 15 minutes.

Is there a substitute grain for the Chinese Barley/Job’s Tears?
We didn’t note a substitute because this barley has a medicinal purpose. Another grain won’t have the same healing impact on the body.

I am allergic to gluten. On the internet, it said that Chinese Barley was gluten free. I went to an Asian market in town and they did not have anything labeled “Chinese Barley”, they only had “Pearl Barley”. I looked up on line, and it says that pearl barley has gluten. Your picture looks like the product that I bought, but I am afraid to get a reaction. Do you happen to know if “Chinese Barley” is called by any other names? Thank you!
