Delicious Summer Eats

Eating locally grown seasonal foods helps your body acclimate to Nature’s messages. Summer is the perfect time to enjoy all of the luscious fruits that Nature provides. As the Summer season is energetically linked to the Heart, red foods, such as plum tomatoes, watermelon and berries, and bitter foods, such as broccoli rabe are particularly beneficial, as are cooling herbs such as cilantro, dill and mint.

Try these eating-for-healing tips!

  • Add a handful of raspberries, strawberries or Goji berries to your morning oatmeal or barley cereal.
  • Juice fresh watermelon and mint for a cooling afternoon drink.
  • Get creative with salsa! Use tropical fruits, such as avocado or mango and pineapple as your base. Then add herbs like cilantro and dill. Remember: Where a food grows influences its healing essence – foods that thrive in hot climates gently counteract the effects of heat on your body!
