Women's Health

TCM reminds us that we are born with a self-healing ability. This power resides within. The secret access code is Qi. Qi connects all your organs and supports the body's desire for balance. As women, we have unique energetic patterns.

Every woman’s life is a beautiful complete cycle. It’s a whole, made up of a sequence of intertwining life stages.

Menstrual Cycle

The ancient Chinese text, Huang Di Nei Jing tells us that a woman’s Qi, and specifically her kidney Qi, moves in seven year cycles. At the end of her first seven years, a healthy young girl’s kidney Qi becomes abundant, manifesting itself in the growth of hair and permanent teeth.  At fourteen years old, this Qi or life-force, reaches it’s peak causing the onset of puberty. A woman flourishes throughout her “furtive” years, and then around age thirty-five, her Qi reaches its peak. Learning how to protect this precious Qi is a system we are happy to share with you.

Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a miraculous time in a woman’s life. The ability to conceive a healthy and intelligent baby is a specialty of Chinese medicine. Here we teach you how to care for yourself prior to conceiving and after delivery. More on pregnancy.

Menopause

The word “menopause” isn’t in the traditional Chinese medical vocabulary. Actually, TCM calls the various symptoms that some women experience when their cycle ends simply “menstrual cycle ending symptoms.” So you may be surprised to learn that menopause is essentially a Western concept. This stage of life is a natural part of a woman’s life-cycle. During this transition period a woman has a great opportunity to enhance her health. More on menopause

Emotions and Women’s Health

Women, by virtue of their birthright are creative individuals and must rely on healthy Liver function to maintain a free flow of emotions. Stress directly impacts the Liver’s ability to process emotions. For example, excess anger and frustration is the result of stagnating Liver energy. To release some stress we suggest Qigong practices and meditation. Below is a guided meditation you’ll find helpful.

Breast Cancer Prevention

A major health concern for women is breast cancer prevention.  Dense breasts, lumps, and cancers can be addressed in a preventative and restorative manner with Chinese medicine techniques. We like to share an entire interactive website, breastcancer.com, that’s dedicated to improving breast health as well as healing from breast cancer.
