What Is Energy?

Both Eastern and Western cultures agree that energy is power. However, in Chinese medicine and culture, energy is made up of four additional areas:

  • Energy can be seen and transformed.
  • Energy has information.
  • Energy contains consciousness.
  • Energy contains Universal life.

When you do any type of energy practice, understanding the purpose helps you connect to all four levels—energy, information, consciousness, and Universal life. So what do all of these levels mean?

Energy Can Be Seen and Transformed

Children have a ton of energy because they are young, and their resources have not yet been depleted. They run, run, run. A child being tired is simply a sign their body wants sleep. Adults cannot run, run, run. We don’t have the same reserves.

Energy can also transform. When you do not have energy, you may feel very cold in Winter. No matter how many layers of clothing you wear, your nose, hands, and feet still feel cold because you do not have enough energy to send to these areas, or the power to push the energy forward. No matter what you see or do not see, everything is about energy.

Energy Has Information

Different kinds of energy will have different information. Spring has Spring energy and information you can see and feel. Fall has Fall energy and information. Space has an entirely different energy and information. Factors like time, space, and location, and the when, where, and how are contained within energy itself.

Your own energy also has information, not just power. Who you are, where you are, how you are, and when you are contain information about you. Individually, everyone’s energy is different. Each human being is born on a specific date, at a specific time, and in their own specific location, which is their base and power source. Your birthday contains information—the year, month, day, time, and location. The location has a meaning that is between you and God and you with Nature. There are no accidents.

If you are facing difficulties in your life, go to the location of your birth on your birthday, as close to the time of your birth as possible. Sit there, meditate, and connect with the location on the moment you entered this world.

Energy Contains Consciousness

Consciousness is beautiful, mysterious, and powerful. The best Chinese doctors only practice at the consciousness level. They deal with consciousness, not illness and disease, understanding that physical conditions manifest at the consciousness level and show on the body at the physical level. Instead of the condition, they focus on the energy and the consciousness. Instead of naming a condition, Chinese medicine calls it Liver Qi or Lung Qi dysfunction. They use Qi to describe illness and disease.

Energy Contains Universal Life

Qi is not just your Qi. It is the life of the Universe and its many versions. Your life is connected to Universal life. You represent your version of Universal life. No matter which type of energy you practice, look at yourself closely. When doing yoga, do you just do the posture, or do you try to connect to your Universal life? How deep do you go? When your energy changes, your body becomes a three-dimensional screen. You can see Universal life on your body. You become the image of the Universe.
