This Very Moment

Close your eyes and take a breath. Indulge in this moment—this very moment. Allow yourself to feel the breeze on your face and the sun’s warmth on your skin. Now open your eyes.

Everything may look exactly the same at first glance, but there are subtle changes: the leaves and petals may have shifted on the ground, a bird may be flying overhead, a person may be walking past you. This moment is unlike any other you will ever experience. Sure, we have patterns: day leads into night and into day again, just as one season turns into another throughout the year. But just as this very moment will never come again, each day is different from the next, and each season as well.

We are now into the heart of Summer. This Summer is different from the last and will be different from the next. Simply ask a farmer. He or she will confirm that Nature has its own rules. Some Summers are cooler than average, while thunderstorms are needed to break the heat in others. Nature’s weather affects everything: growing patterns, crop yield, and our activities and our comfort levels. But when we drop down and take life moment by moment, we see so much more than all of this. Life is unpredictable. And yet, Nature shows us that there is a constant through this unpredictability. Can you hop on board to experience what’s coming next?

Embrace each and every moment in your life. Experience these moments through the eyes of a young child that is learning all about the world around them for the very first time. What do you see, feel, hear? Breathe all of it in and enjoy each and every moment.
