Winter Qi Nurturing Journey
Welcome! We have an exciting week ahead! Take time to read through this page as there are a lot of details and activities. Then, join us on Sunday morning, January 12th, at 9:00 AM (EST) as Master Lu officially launches the journey live.
There are No Accidents
Winter is a time to slow down, reflect, and gather energy. As Spring approaches, these energetic reserves nurture the growth of new, vibrant life. Each season carries its own unique responsibilities and natural rhythms.
By aligning with the season, you prepare yourself for the renewal and growth of Spring. Here are a few ways to support yourself during Winter:
Stay Warm
Stay warm! Winter is related to Kidney Qi. Kidney likes to be warm not cold. Include more soups and tea in your diet.
Reflect
Cut-back on draining mental and physical activity. Relax, read a book, meditate, do more Qigong.
Rest
Go to sleep by 10:00 PM and no devices after 8:00 PM.
Morning Wake-Up Routine
Self-Assessment
What’s your Kidney Qi like? Explore your current Qi levels with this self-assessment quiz and gain valuable insights. Take time to reflect on your answers, then Master Lu will share his insights during our live call on Wednesday, January 15th.
The goal is to help you find a starting point as we begin 2025. Through self-awareness you can set realistic goals for the new year.
Qigong Practice
During our opening call, Master Lu will introduce several new Wu Ming Qigong forms. A replay of the full practice will be available for future viewing so that you can revisit and deepen your experience anytime. You can find your Qigong practice here.
Eating for Healing
Winter is the season for nourishment. Enjoy warming foods like soups, stews, and root vegetables. We encourage you to listen to your body, including its food cravings; if you’re drawn to a particular food, honor that instinct and reference the Five Element Consciousness chart to discover which organ is “speaking.” You can find the full eating plan here.

Five Element Consciousness
The Five Element Consciousness Framework offers us a guide to understand our connection to Nature and the Universe. Energetically, our organs communicate with Nature and with one another. They constantly strive to keep the body in balance. To understand signals of imbalance, the ancient Chinese doctors turned to the Five Element chart. There are many layers to understand when studying this chart, so we’ll start with just a few.
Each organ resonates with the vibration of a different season, emotion, taste and color. Notice the element associated with the Kidney: water. Now look at the taste: salty, the color: black and the emotion: fear. Do you resonate with any of these signs? Are you drawn to wearing black continually? How about salty foods? Sound appealing? That’s your body communicating its needs.
Take some time to study the Five Element chart below and unravel your own messages.
Kidney/Bladder: Associated with the Water element and the Winter season.
Liver/Gallbladder: Associated with the Wood element and the Spring season.
Heart/Small Intestine: Associated with the Fire element and the Summer season.
Spleen/Stomach: Associated with the Earth element and the Late Summer season.
Lung/Large Intestine: Associated with the Metal element and the Fall season.
