Applying Quantum Understanding to Diagnosis and Treatment

Nan Lu, OMD

Illness and disease are not isolated factors, but act as communications created to achieve spirit’s purpose. Relationships among the body, mind and spirit are unbreakable. From the microcosm to the macrocosm, science has proved everything is energy and everything is connected in the field. How to read this field is a skill that is slowly being lost. After 40 years of clinical and personal practice, Grand Master Lu shares what he has learned.  Using case studies he guides participants to understand how to see the root of the body’s imbalances⏤ from emotional issues to physical ailments to reproductive problems.

12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

The Dragon's Way® Instructor Certification Training

Private Session: Prerequisite, The Dragon’s Way® Instructor Certification Training

KEYNOTE: The Tao, Healing and the Quantum Universe: Living in the Presence

Menas C. Kafatos, PhD.

We live in an era of integration, a time of unity awareness. In science, the view of the underlying unity of everything is due largely to quantum physics. Quantum mechanics is not just theory, it is very practical. Its laws apply throughout the universe, everywhere. They apply to true well-being, to Oriental medicine and healing. The world of the quantum field and the world of everyday life are one. Awareness of oneness leads us to a profound vision of true living in the Presence, which is living and eternal, and connects us all beyond space and time. The Tao and science, the inner realms and the outer realms, are in constant dialogue, change, and evolution, while the underlying unity allows the Presence to hold everything together. The mysteries of life can be opened to us if we are willing to make the jump in our own bound sense of so-called individuality and embrace the Way.

11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Mapping the Internal Landscape

Evan Rabinowitz, MAc

All traditional cultures consider humans to be mirrors of Nature.  This microcosmic-macrocosmic relationship has both outward and inward dimensions.  In Chinese Medicine, the outer dimension is reflected in acupuncture point names, many of which evoke natural forms- rivers and mountains, sun and stars.  The inner dimension of this mirror is described in Daoist and alchemical writings, most famously the Neijing Du/Chart of the Inner Channel. This class will explore the universal aspects of the inner landscape of the body as a microcosm.  Focusing on our  foundational structures– the pelvis, the chest, the head – participants will gain a concrete experience of the energies that animate these regions.  Embodied discernment of the inner landscape facilitates self-discovery and clarifies the path of healing.

Awakening Mystery: Becoming Aware of All You Are

Christine Page, MD

Amid all the information flooding our consciousness every moment of the day, there’s mystery. Existing within the realms of the unknown and unexplored, mystery is revered as the path to oneness and enlightenment for the spiritual initiate. Ancient wisdom states that mystery is accessed when our lips and eyes are closed but our heart is open. Our masculine, logical mind is often critical of such feminine allure, fearful of losing control and having to face chaos and confusion; but our heart and soul rejoice. They know that when we fearlessly embrace the undefinable and have the courage to step into the unknown, we enter the loving ocean of unlimited possibilities with the potential to experience oneness or wholeness; to be healed. Here we feel alive and realize that up until now, we’ve been asleep. Here we come to understand true spiritual fulfillment. Intuition is the voice of mystery; its language includes symbols, images, dreams and synchronicity. To hear the voice of our soul, we must quiet our chattering mind, release our need to have all the answers before moving and allow ourselves to be embraced in the mists of love, magic and creativity.

Moving Beyond Theories to Application

Nan Lu, OMD

This session lays the foundation for a deeper appreciation of the role Chinese medicine theory plays in the understanding of the body’s Oneness and consciousness. Often the true power behind theories such as Yin and Yang is hidden when we can’t see how they offer proof that healing happens within a cooperative framework. Others such as Five Element Theory are not just theories but rather are a framework for viewing ourselves as nested in layers of interconnected relationships within us and between us and Nature.  In this session, Master Lu will use case studies to show how to move beyond theory into application.

Mapping and Tracing The Body's Invisible Power: Meridians

Renee Lehman, LAc

The meridians contain all the wisdom of the body.  They are invisible pathways that communicate internal to external.  Learning more about how energy flows through these meridians and where they are located will support your understanding of how the body communicates.  Through pain and discomfort often we determine which meridian is “speaking.”  In this session you will also trace the meridians for future reference.

Evening of Movement: Experience Your Inner Vibe

Qidancing offers one of the most powerful spontaneous moving meditations of Chinese culture. This experiential learning opportunity illuminates the purpose and possibilities of Qigong, TCM’s ancient self-healing energy practice.

KEYNOTE: Consciousness, Self-Discovery and Everyday Health: The Answer Lies Within

Nan Lu, OMD

From the spiritual perspective, you create your own reality, your health and your illness. In the circle of health and illness, illness becomes a gateway to self-discovery and spiritual transformation. Your health represents harmony between you and the Universe. From this angle, any illness or chaos in your life becomes an opportunity to see Oneness, to discover that you are a child of the universe. The answer is always with you. Through this journey, you discover you are a reflection of the unconditional love of the Universe.

The Dragon’s Way® Instructor Certification - Information Session

Elaine Katen; Irma Jenne

Most programs say lose weight and gain energy. We say gain energy and lose weight while regaining internal balance and health. The Dragon’s Way® self-healing program is based on Wu Ming Qigong. Everything we do centers around TCM’s Five Element energetic framework that encompasses relationships, including emotions, food, lifestyle choices and your environment. You’re invited to this educational session to learn more and to hear about experiences various instructors have had in teaching this body, mind, and spirit program.  Learn more about how you too can bring The Dragon’s Way to your community.

Guided Meditation

Brother/Doctor Bernard Seif, SMC, EdD, DNM
Sages use parables to teach us about mysteries too deep to convey in words. Our meditation will use parables to help us explore a few (perhaps familiar) parables in a new way. In the process, we may discover something new about ourselves.
3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m

Behind the Mask: Uncovering Your Original Face

Lillian Bridges

Most people wear masks that inhibit the expression of their true self, which the ancient Daoists called the Original Face. Enlightenment was considered the ability to know oneself fully and return to this innate self. Face Reading can assist in this process of self-discovery.

In this workshop, participants will be given an overview about what the face shows regarding one’s true nature. They will learn how to: evaluate the epigenetic structure of the features revealing personality; recognize the coloration on the face showing blockages in the organs; understand the markings on the Facial Maps of Life Experience and the Emotions; and track the special light of the Spirit called Shen that glows through the eyes and skin when someone is authentic. Special attention will be paid to the health consequences of living behind a mask. Face Reading can be a tool for enhancing consciousness on the journey back to the Original Face.

The Path of Endarkenment:  Transforming Anxiety into Inquiry

Thea Elijah, LAc

Anxiety can be debilitating for our health—it may rob us of sleep, distort our appetite, and undermine our immune system.  It can cause us to hold back from living our lives fully, and leave us doubting even what we know to be true.  Many health issues can stem from anxiety—or it can become the starting point for a path of inquiry, first inward, and then outward into our lives.  Join us for an exploration of embodied practices that allow us to make use of uncertainty as a doorway into self-discovery.  We can learn to find confidence by standing deep in the mystery and heal our body mind spirit through healing our relationship with the unknown.

Vision & Consciousness: The Eyes Are The Windows to Our Soul

Andy Rosenfarb, ND, LAc

Degenerative vision loss is reaching epidemic proportions on a global scale.  One reason is that as a population, we are living longer.  This increases the probability for age-related diseases like glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, cataracts, etc. But aging alone is not the full story. A deeper understanding comes from thinking of the eyes as windows to the soul. In clinical practice informed by Traditional Chinese Medicine, the eyes give insight into mysteries of our “inner world” our thoughts, feelings, emotions as well as our overall state of health. The health of your eyes, and your vision, is connected to your consciousness.

In this workshop, we’ll explore the unique contribution Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) makes to the treatment of traumatic or degenerative eye diseases. We will explore the rich history of how TCM has approached eye problems and discuss the latest research supported therapies.

Flowing From Image to Likeness

Brother Bernard Seif, SMC, EdD, DNM

Life invites us into a process of Transformation. Scriptures and philosophies of various traditions talk about returning to our true selves, returning home.  They imply that we have an indelible Image of goodness or God within and that life is a journey of self-discovery in order to awaken that into Likeness. Through the use of Jungian archetypes we will explore the Five Element theory and see what we can discover about ourselves. NB: This workshop is not a form of diagnosis or treatment. Please bring paper and pen/pencil.

7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m

Embracing Our Oneness

Christine Page, MD

Our inner being is like a flower, our soul in its center surrounded by many beautiful petals. Each petal represents a different aspect or facet of the self. All of them need to be open and fully expressed, for us to know wholeness or oneness. However, it’s not uncommon for us to favor one or two of these petals – subpersonalities – dedicating much energy each day to their expression. Even though we may not always like their behavior, their outcome is predictable and won’t upset our status quo.

The other aspects of the self patiently wait for our attention. At times, these shadowy subpersonalities may reveal themselves to us, yearning for us to embody their gifts and strengths to enrich our presence. But it’s just as easy to turn our back on them, returning to old habits. We may even project our discomfort by judging or trying to fix someone else who embodies the aspects of ourselves we wish to ignore.

Yet without the courage to enter the shadows and accept all aspects of the self into our center – the heart – we cannot be whole. Come with me as we embrace our oneness.

The Extraordinary Powers of Healing

Stephen Cowan, MD

It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Ancient Chinese symbols hold wisdom that can unlock our powers of insight.  Using painting and qigong exercises, in this workshop, we will we explore the symbols associated with the Extraordinary Vessels and discover hidden connections with common Western Medical diagnoses.

Becoming Fearless: A Chinese Medicine Approach To Inner Courage

Larry Stoler, PhD

Today, so many people are gripped by fear. Typically, people look first for external solutions to cope with fear and anxiety. What new therapy, supplement or medication will work? In this workshop, we begin with the understanding that the answer to our fear can be found within. How can you apply this idea in your life to build inner courage and fearlessness? We’ll use Chinese Medicine’s ancient mind-body-spirit framework and 5 element theory to guide us in the process of self-discovery. You’ll learn a Wu Ming Qigong approach to building inner fearlessness that you can use to in your life.
